A GREAT WAY TO SAVE MEMORIES and SNAPSHOTS OF MY DISNEY TREE

Saturday, December 12, 2009

Many people have no idea what to do with all the ornaments their children have made over the years in school and church...... This is a creative and beautiful way to preserve them. We use three layers of heavy garlands and then fill them as full as possible , hot gluing, wiring, and whatever else it takes to attach the ornaments into the garland. These pictures come from the library of a home we did this week. Over the years I have taken the ornaments all off and reattached them for the client. It is the heaviest garland we do, filled with white lights and one of my very favorite decorations every year. I hope you can at least get the idea....It is much prettier in real life. This family has 4 grown children and I always think of it as their life in garland.

another tree in the den....filled with old fashioned shiny balls.
And Now ON TO DISNEY....ONE OF MY FAVORITE TREES IN OUR HOUSE.

The Mickey lights add such a special touch. I had enough to fill a 7 and a half foot tree.

Hope you enjoyed some snapshots of my Disney tree.. We have so many ornaments from our many Disney Trips. but this year I was able to get some really old VINTAGE MICKEY ornaments and Mickey lights.

I have a head full of funny stories that happened this week. Some I can tell, some I can't. One in particular I need to clear with the client. But the best NEWS of all is I AM FINISHED WITH TREES FOR 2009. I do have some more to show you and will try and post often this next week. I am ready to go back and be JUST GRAMMY. We have a fun grandparent trip planned this week, a trip to ride the Polar Express, packages to wrap, Christmas music to listen to, sleep to catch up on, my family Christmas letter to write, little boys to snuggle with, a vacation to plan, a Christmas Bunco party to attend, and a PILE of paper work that seems to keep on giving. I have some GIVEAWAYS to mail and a few more to GIVE. I hope the holiday blog has helped you in your decorating, inspired you and even made decorating a little easier. That was my reason for doing it. I am planning to ship three packages on Monday, so leave a comment and you will be entered in the drawing. And MOST OF ALL, remember that A BABY DID CHANGE EVERYTHING!

Teresa, So Beautiful! I love the idea of the garland with children's ornaments. I have kept so many of the Christmas decorations that my children have made. Some years our family tree is made up of only the ornaments and decorations they made. I think that is my favorite tree! So many wonderful memories!
Glad I found your blog!

The garland is wonderful! I'll have to remember to do something like that once my daughter starts getting old enough to make ornaments. I love your Disney tree, too. My dad has one he keeps up in his office all year round. I love to just go and look at it whenever I visit.

What a great way to keep the ornaments our kids have made! I also appreciate how you ended the post with the challenge to remember that a Baby did change everything!! Sometimes in all the busyness we can forget the reason we celebrate in the first place. Thanks for all you have shared, enjoy being Grammy!!
