A Little Instruction and Proof That I Try to Squeeze FALL in

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

I wanted to show you the difference in using NO HOOKS, but I don't have a hook anywhere in the house, so I used a little tree and MAYBE you can see the ornaments that I hung with their string versus the ones I pulled up tight to the branch. You do this by wrapping the string or whatever holds the ornament round and round until it is touching the branch....
(I HOPE) you can see the difference in these pictures...See how much better the ornament looks and is seen when there is NO DROP. I have never tried putting that in words before and I think I did a terrible job...Once I get a big tree up, I will try and show you with different ornaments. (and don't look at the lights on this tree....I just threw them on to get some light. I promise we have NO wires showing when we do a tree)

I LOVE GLITZ
I love tassels and all the ways you can use them on trees and in holiday decorating

A cute ornament I just found at market
A New Snowman
This is what my entire house looks like....BASKETS of ORNAMENTS EVERYWHERE.
A little proof that I try to add a TOUCH of FALL in the middle of all the CHRISTMAS! I have Bunco next week, so the challenge will be finding a place for the gals to sit down!

I see what you mean, by getting the ornament right next to the branch, without it hanging and pulling etc. I'm going to do that when I decorate my tree this year. Thanks for sharing!

That's an interesting tip. I always hate how my ornaments look on the tree because they don't hang right! I think I will try the snug-up-to-the-branch trick this year.

Question: Do you do non-glittery trees? I'm not a glitter fan and like plain-er ornaments and simple color schemes. Could you show some (one?) tree like that?

Great idea about wrapping the ornaments! I agree that I hate the hang down ones, too. Love the new stuff from market. I'm sure as decorated as your house is that the Bunco gals will just be glad to set amongst all that beauty & won't really care where they are actually sitting! Have a great weekend.

Hi Teresa, I tied every ornament on with green yarn for the last 8 years...I have pets and they like to play with the ornaments, this way the tops stay secure to the tree and all they have is the ornament to bat around. sometimes it's a little tricky finding where the ornament came from though.....especially when you have tied on over 700 ornaments. I also like the look better...Have a great day!!! Hugs Jennifer

Hmmm, I get what you mean. Now when I see pictures of Christmas trees I'm going to be looking for that! Not all of my ornaments have ribbon or string for hanging, at least half have to use that metal hook, but I guess you could add ribbon, right?

Oh my goodness....the Bunco gals will love sitting among your treasures. It will be like sitting in a candy store!! Thanks for the continued tips. How do you tie the lights without seeing them I know how to do it once it's on the branch but when I go to the "next branch down" I can always see the cords which I hate.

Well, dang. Why didn't I think of that?! This year all my ornaments will be snug to their branches. And mt friends will see them and marvel at how brilliant I am. And I will silently thank you for making me look so cool.Next tip, please....:)

Thanks for showing how to put the ornaments on without any drop. They really do look better that way!
I'm looking forward to trying that this year!

I personally prefer less glittery decorations, but will consider snugging them instead of letting them hang. Your trees are very pretty, just too over the top for my style, however that is the beauty of our country, we can be different and still get along. I think you and I would be good friends in "real life". we have so much in common, grandkids, football, loving Christmas and Disney.

I LOVE this STUFF!!!! All the awesome Christmas---and the fall decorations!

Wow! this is the 3rd blog I've hit this morning that is totally cranking up my inner motor to get my Christmas ready!

A thought just hit me....what could I do to get the "inner motor" in others to have Christ actually be part of their own Christmas?

Your blog is a true blessing!
My first...but not last visit here!!!

I LOVE your blog. I keep checking back for more tips. Could you please explain how to put the lights on without showing the wires. I'm intrigued. I love LOTS of lights but my wires always show. I've been given a Christmas tree by my husbands grandmother that is just beautiful (or it will be - hopefully). Shhh... don't tell anyone that I'm working on getting all the lights that are tangled on it right now and it's sitting in my living room.

I wish we had Hobby Lobby here. I've never been in one.
I could stay on your blog for hours looking at all the beautiful things. Your work is incredible!!
I love the glitz.
I am going to use your tip of getting the ornaments close to the branch, and not use those stupid wire hooks that I hate. lol.
