A FRIDAY NIGHT GIVEAWAY

Friday, October 9, 2009

I am going to give this elegant Snowman away this weekend in honor of all the followers that this blog now has. I will draw on Sunday night and all it takes to win is a comment on this post. That should give you a good chance to win. How easy is that! I would love for it to be YOURS!
As you can probably tell, I am constantly working on Christmas right now. That's my JOB and this is preparation month.
I have had comments and emails that some don't like the glitz....Hang with me...I will do some non glitz in a post soon. I do some very Southern Living looks, just happens that the houses I am getting ready for right now want GLITZ and GLAMOUR. I feel like it is such a privilege to be able to give you tips, but I don't want to give you more information than you want. In this post I want to show you some new color combinations, just variations of shades of greens and reds. I also want you to see that the more different ribbons you mix the prettier your bow looks.
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO MIX COLORS
BUY BERRIES In ALL COLORS and SIZES
THEY ARE THE BEST FILLER and YOU CAN STICK THEM IN THE TREE and HIDE ANY HOLES or COVER LIGHT CORDS.

THESE WERE SOME THINGS I PICKED UP AT HOBBY LOBBY. THIS STAR is LIGHT WEIGHT and ANOTHER GREAT BUY and a
GREAT FILLER.
SEVERAL VIEWS OF A WREATH THAT HAS LOTS OF COLORS AND LOTS OF BERRIES
ALSO A SMALL TABLE TOP TREE WITH BEAUTIFUL RIBBON. MANY TIMES WE MAKE TWO OF THESE, MADE JUST ALIKE and USE ON EACH END OF a BUFFET. We ADD THE PEARL LIGHTS and ITS an INEXPENSIVE WAY to GET an EXPENSIVE LOOK
It is a very dreary and rainy Friday night here in Shreveport.....a great night to stay in and work on trees. Actually it has been a GOOD DAY, as I got a much needed massage, got my hair cut and am now settled in to get some work done. My husband is out of town, so I am cranking up the Christmas music, have candles lit in every room and plan to get lots of work done. My favorite holiday CD's TONIGHT are B.J. Thomas's Christmas is Coming Home, T.D. Jakes Follow The Star, Christmas by Alabama, and Martina McBride's White Christmas! What are some of your favorites?
Also if you decided to do "The Jesus Tree" , please email me (annah99@aol.com) your mailing address and I will mail you a scroll. I do mine on parchment paper, but you could do it many ways.

Hi Teresa, it's cold and it was raining here earlier (indiana)too. I love anything Martina Mcbride but I don't have her christmas CD I didn't know she even had that one...where have I been????....I like the way your bows are so full. Everytime I try to make a bow like that it turns out uneven and for lack of a better word, NASTY looking. I can make basic bows but not as gorgous as yours. I also like glitz but hubby doesn't :( so I stay more of a classic christmas. The snowman is adorable...you find such neat things....Have a terrific weekend and don't work too hard....Hugs, Jennifer

I have had to limit myself to your blog because it is just getting me too excited! Thanks for all the fun ideas and give aways. I haven't commented before, but I just had to tell you that I am enjoying the Christmas blog. And I love the Jesus Tree idea. I am going to have to sit and think of a plan for it all. Not sure if my husband will agree to a 8th tree....

Gorgeous as always! I love the wide rolls of net ribbon, I use them on most of my trees plus outside around the doorway, it is very versatile and a great filler! My grandchildren would LOVE the snowman, he is adorable! Have a great decorating weekend, we are having an unseasonably cool weekend here in NW Arkansas, and I am starting to "dream" of Christmas!

Teresa, I guess I would be called VERY traditional when it comes to Christmas decorations. My tree is filled with all kinds of ornaments collected throughout the years. It took me a long time to begin using ribbons as filler and to change out the tree topper for a large bow with long streamers than come to the bottom of the tree. Your bows are absolutely gorgeous as are your trees and wreaths but the colors are just not my cup of tea. I would love to go to someone else's house and see it decorated like this though. Please keep sharing. I'm sure many of your ideas will be incorporated in our house this year depending on how much I can get done. Take care and don't overdo it.

God Bless,
Mimmy

I'm not crafty at all, but I'm learning so much from your blog. My favorite Christmas album ever is Amy Grant (and I think she has a few of them now).

Mammy said...

Oh girl, you are just amazing. Is that what we call the wide rolls of ribbon--net ribbon? I'm making a trip to Hobby Lobby to find my own. That's a 50 mile trip one way so I need to make sure what to ask for. And my bow-making skills are atrocious so we definitely need a tutorial if you can work that into your schedule. Keep posting. Your blog makes my day.

Janet said...

I just love both your blogs and holiday decorating is my favorite thing to do! I love any and all ideas you have. I hope to be starting my own blog soon and you are an inspiration.

Love the snowman! All of your stuff is gorgeous!

My favorite Christmas Song is What Child is This. Don't remember the album or specific rendition, but my parents had it when I was growing up...Greensleeves I think???

Wish I had that album today. My mom and sisters and I always baked dozens of Christmas cookies as we listened to it.
