WOW, I never expected to have such a huge response to the first HOLIDAY GIVEAWAY of the year! I am thrilled to have so many new readers. Once the season starts, its tough to post and it makes it much easier if I know I am helping someone. This year we are hoping to give you lots of tree ideas early. I am going to give you a little teaser at the end of this post...Before I announce the winners, I will describe a little of the life of a tree decorator. The last week in August and all of September you will find me unloading boxes, sorting ornaments and ribbon, stock piling lights, garland, picks, berries, grapevine, wire, making last minute trips to market, double and triple checking the schedule, glancing at every holiday magazine I can find for new ideals, checking on delivery dates for live garland. Really it is not near as glamorous as it sounds. My husband just informed me that there were 102 boxes left in our storage building. I got twenty boxes unpacked yesterday and that took me a lot of hours. My body reminded me today that I am no longer 35 or 45 for that matter...This is one of the jobs that I almost HAVE TO DO myself, or I won't know where things are once we began work. I am also mentally decorating four new houses that we have. Thinking about all we need, as these houses are totally starting over. A NEW LOOK!Another part of my job is looking for good trees for my customers that need new ones. I don't actually sell trees, but I try to find them the best tree for the best price...if you are getting a new tree, USE your old tree in your yard as a decoration..GREAT light effect at no cost...RECYCLE IT.That's not really a tip, but seems people never think of that. Here is the tip....Buy a white tree. I have never liked white trees, don't do any, but we came up with so many theme trees that we could do on this little (I think 3 or 4 ft) tree late last year. We went and bought everyone we could find for this year...In the next few weeks, I will show you a transformed tree.
OK, for the FIRST ORNAMENT WINNERS THIS SEASON, ( don't worry there will be many more) are Kelly at Blessed Mama, Blessed Wife and Trish at Me and My Boys Both are super cute blogs that I want to read more of. If you stop by these blogs and say hello, I will make SURE you get two entries in the next ornament GIVEAWAY. That will come later this week when I have my first guest poster. While I am unpacking ornaments, hundreds of them, its a good time to give some away. Be sure and check out my main blog for a little catch up on the littles and of course a little football.
Congrats to the winners, I live in hope of winning one of your special decorations! I have never thought of getting a white tree. We have our last old tree to one of our daughters, so no tree in the yard here.
I've been looking for a white tree just that size. WHERE did you get it? I'm doing a small themed tree in my craft room this year and I can't find a small white tree and I started looking last Christmas! HUGS Kim
Woohoo, congratulations to your two winners, no doubt they were absolutely thrilled:-) I'll go over and congratulate them as well on their blog!! Goodness, Teresa, I have 6 totes of Christmas decorations and it takes me a while to get through them, I can't even imagine over 122 totes!! You certainly have found your niche, though, because you decorate trees so very beautifully. xoxo
I really don't know how you do it. I love Christmas and I love my decorations but as I get older it just seems to get harder to get motivated. You are my Hero!
Hi Grammy! Thank you so much for stopping by our blog! You are so sweet and kind. I am so glad to be reading your blog.. I just love it already!! Your outlook is simply inspiring and contagious! =]
It sounds as if you are doing all the "grunt" work that makes the glamour possible! I do a small white tree in red and blue every year--Ole Miss colors! Can't wait to see your ideas! Going to visit your winners now!
I am a wife to Jack, Mom to Greg and Amanda, Mother-in-law to Micah and Dana. Grammy to Parker, Jack, Austin and Grayson, which just happens to be the best job I have EVER had.
I have owned Baskets and Bows for the past 17 years, which primarily is a gift basket business year around and a Holiday Decorating service for 3 months out of the year.
I live in Louisiana. I am an admitted Christmas and Disney addict! Your interest in my "tree decorating" business, on my family blog, Teresa's Treasures, is the reason for this special blog. I plan to give you tips, pictures, and stories that will help you make your holiday decorating a bit easier and most of all MAGICAL. That's my goal for all my clients and I hope I can pass that on to you.
Feel free to email me any questions you may have. I will try my best to answer or help you solve decorating problems.
You may find the blog title strange if you have not been a reader of my family blog. Check out the link to MY FAMILY and I think you will understand. Ten years ago, just as the baby born in Bethlehem on Christmas Day changed my life, a Baby Boy named Parker radically changed our lives. Both of those babies are the best things that EVER happened to me. When Faith Hill sang this song last year, it just became my favorite. If music on the blog bothers you or you are not a Faith Hill fan, feel free to mute it on the player.
